Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellow

Sonia’s research interests and expertise lie in using large-scale genomic data to better understand complex disease biology. She obtained her PhD in cardiovascular disease genetics from University College London. In 2018, she started her NHMRC Early Career Fellowship titled ‘Healthy heart, healthy brain’, which aimed to use statistical genomics to understand the high comorbidity in cardiovascular and mental health disorders, and predict unknown effects of cardiovascular medications on psychiatric disorders, and vice versa. She started her Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship this year, with one of the aims being to evaluate the clinical utility of polygenic risk scores in inherited cardiac disease.
