Perry Elliott is a Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at UCL and a Senior Investigator of the UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). He is director of UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science and the UCL Centre for Heart Muscle Disease. He studied medicine at St. Thomas’s Hospital Medical School and completed his general cardiology training at St. George’s Hospital London. He was appointed as Senior Lecturer first at St. George’s Hospital in 1999 and then at UCL in 2003. He w a full Professor at UCL in 2012.
He is current Chairman of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Heart Academy and the ESC Council on Cardiovascular Genomics, as well as the past Chairman of the ESC Working Group on Myocardial and Pericardial Diseases, the Executive Committee for the European Outcomes Research Programme registry on cardiomyopathies, and the 2014 ESC Guideline Task Force on Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. He is past Deputy Editor of The Heart Journal and the International Journal of Cardiology and is currently an executive Editor for the European Heart Journal. He is President of Cardiomyopathy UK, Europe’s foremost charity for patients with heart muscle disease.
